Jeremy Lefroy, Stafford’s re-elected Member of Parliament visited SSC Laser at Hangar 5 Hixon on Friday 22nd May.

Mr Lefroy met with SSC Laser’s CEO Austin Jarrett and Managing Director Andy Evans to discuss current trading conditions and future growth plans.

The Directors reported that trading conditions were good and they were optimistic that the Manufacturing sector would continue to grow in the UK over the next few years. Mr Lefroy agreed, stating that the UK is leading the way with manufacturing and is out performing most EU Countries. He added that our new Government would be supporting UK Manufacturing by helping businesses to export and by encouraging inward investment.

He also said that the Government will be helping UK Manufacturing to bring production back to Britain, adding that the Government led business organisation the Manufacturing Advisory Service is keen to work with companies to help them grow profitably in a rising market place.

Since Jeremy’s last visit to the company, SSC reported that they had invested in a brand new factory in Yate near Bristol which employs 12 people and a Sales office in Canterbury which employs 2 people. The Stafford division continued to perform well contributing over 50% of the group’s turnover. The company is on course to achieve its busiest year ever, with sales expected to exceed £9m.

The Directors attribute the company’s on-going success to the hard work and dedication of its employees. “We have a can do attitude. Our business is all about speed, accuracy and the very highest standard of customer care” said Andy Evans.

During his visit Mr Lefroy toured the 28,000 square foot factory looking at the new laser technology the company has invested in since his last visit.

SSC Laser is one of the largest Sub Contract Laser Job Shops in the UK, employing 70 people over 6 sites including its Head Office at Hixon, Derby, Bristol, Motherwell, Slough and Canterbury.
